Electrical courses helps in imbibing the knowledge of setting up electricity at a point or repairing a faulty point. Further knowledge in the field can even help in the betterment of electrical technology.

Electrical courses can be attained as a practical electrical course or by achieving the degree of Electrical Engineering. The degree in electrical engineering can be for graduation and also for post-graduation. The more planned and managed work done in electrical technology is fulfilled by the electrical engineers. The on-field setting up, repair and maintenance work is usually done by people who have taken up the practical electrical courses.

This is offered by smaller institutes that impart the basics of electricity. The method of electricity conversion, its uses and method of operation is practically taught. Special knowledge is given in health and safety hazards, their prevention and repair. This gives the individual a preliminary idea of the technology. The practical work done improves the skills required.

PostHeaderIcon What Wood Would You Choose? Driftwood And Bamboo Make Great Outdoor Furniture Options

MERRILLVILLE, IN…

With daylight savings in full swing, more and more people are looking forward to spending time on their patios or decks. And for those people looking to make more of a splash with their outdoor décor, driftwood furniture offers an eye-catching alternative to the traditional red picnic table or plastic stackable patio chairs.

Driftwood patio furniture is constructed from wood taken from weather-beaten areas, islands, river beaches, etc. The true beauty of driftwood, besides the natural, back-to-mother-earth appeal, is that no two pieces are alike. So you can create your own unique look for your patio.

“Driftwood enables homeowners to get a little creative. You can purchase a distinctive driftwood table base, secure a piece of glass on top of it and, voila, you have a stylish outdoor or indoor coffee or accent table,” said Sara Shragal, of DirectBuy.

Bamboo is another wood that provides a stylish and durable option for your outdoor furniture. While it’s fairly well known that bamboo is one of the strongest materials in the world to make furniture, it’s become even more popular because the process of making bamboo furniture is environmentally friendly.

Another selling point to bamboo is its versatility. All types of patio furniture and accessories are constructed with bamboo-tables, rocking chairs, chairs, shades, umbrellas, stools, side tables, coffee tables, photo frames and even rugs. So you can literally create your own “bamboo room” outside.

“Bamboo furniture gives a patio a cozy and personal atmosphere.  Even though it’s polished, it retains the natural grains and color of bamboo and this adds to its rustic charm,” said Shragal. ”When you throw in the great look of bamboo with its durability, you end up with a real winner for your back deck, a sun room or patio.”

PostHeaderIcon Wall Beds and What They are Made of

In todayas wall bed market there are a number of wood materials that wall beds are constructed out of. Four of the main materials used in constructing a wall bed are Particle Board, MDF Board, Ply Wood, and Solid Wood. Each material has unique qualities that lend themselves to the operation and structure of your wall bed. Each material type is outlined below to give you a better understanding of why it is used, what it is best used for, and what to look for when choosing your perfect wall bed.

Particle Board

Particle Board is an engineered material used primarily for exterior furniture surfaces. It is composed of highly compressed wood pieces, or particles, which gives the material its name. In wall beds, particle boardâs chief use is for exterior surfaces, because its guarantees a smooth surface and is less likely to warp or crack over time. Particle board strength is measured by its PSI, which gauges the compression of the particles together, and therefore the overall quality and strength of the board as a whole. A cheaper product will be composed of cheaper particles, and therefore have a lower PSI. Industrial strength particle board is much stronger, and has a much higher PSI rating. One thing to note is that particle board may contain amounts of formaldehyde, and it is important to be aware of this when furniture will be used in nurseries, or other highly sensitive spaces. Newer age particle board does not utilize formaldehyde in its construction so be sure to ask when purchasing a wall bed that has particle board components.

MDF

MDF is a material similar to particle board and has the same usage as an exterior surface wood since it results in a smoother surface and is less likely to warp and crack. MDF, however, is a much more refined product than particle board. It is also composed of wood particles, but they are much, much smaller than those that particle board is comprised of. Because of this, MDF has a slightly smoother texture than particle board. Consequently, this decrease in particle size makes MDF a much heavier product than particle board. This increases its structural use, but also makes your wall bed much heavier, which can be a hindrance when installing or moving your wall bed.

Plywood

Plywood is a material that is generally stronger as a structural material than particle board or MDF. Plywood is constructed of several thin layers of wood, and can also be called layered board. The wood used to create the layers in plywood is generally B grade wood, which individually would not be strong enough for use, but when layered together creates a much stronger material. Use of plywood minimizes the chances of warping, which makes it desirable for exterior surfaces of a wall bed, as well as interior. Be cautious when selecting a wall bed that utilizes plywood as a main structural component, however, as knots in the wood layers can create instability. If one layer of the ply wood has a knot, it creates a point of weakness that can be transferred throughout the wood.

Solid Wood

Solid Wood is the material that is most used in wall beds for structural composition. This is the strongest material available, and is consequently the material used most often for the most important part of the wall bed: the structure. Solid wood is generally not used as an exterior material for several reasons. Solid wood can naturally warp, leading to visual imperfections which decrease the overall appearance and structural performance of your wall bed. It is also difficult to guarantee and align specific grain patterns when using solid wood, creating greater difficulty when used for exterior purposes. Solid wood is also very expensive, and unnecessary use is wasteful in our limited eco-system. wall beds that utilize solid wood as their main structural material will be extremely strong, but for aesthetic purposes solid wood is not recommended as an exterior surface.

Deciding what you want your wall bed to be made of brings you one step closer to knowing which wall bed is perfect for you. Once you know the materials, the next step is to choose how your wall bed looks.

PostHeaderIcon What is You Need to Know About Oil Painting?

Before picking up a brush, Learn what lean to fat, value, and more mean and many important terms that you need to learn. Here are terms and tips and every word you need to know about oil painting and it’s necessary termps for producing better paintings.

Long and Short Oil Paint

Oil painting mediums can be used to control the thickness, or consistency, of your oil paint.

Long oil paint means that enough medium has been added that it has very little “peak” (the ability to make small peaks or hills out of the paint) to it. It is smooth and oily. Long paint is used when you want very little brush strokes. Short oil paint is paint straight out of the tube. It is thick and has a lot of “peak” to it, stiff and buttery in consistency.

Some classic mediums are:Linseed Oil, Stand Oil, Safflower Oil, Alkyd Painting Medium etc.

Color Temperature

Color temperature refers to the color’s place on the color wheel. If you divide the color wheel at neutral purple (purple that is neither warm nor cool) and at neutral yellow the wheel will be divided into a “cool” side and “warm” side. Warm colors are colors that have a red tint to them. Cool colors have a blue tint.

Value

Value is the graduation of a color from light to dark. By varying the values in a painting you can achieve what is called contrast, or the sharp difference between light and dark. Adding contrast to a painting adds depth and interest. To see the difference in value in your subject simply put on sunglasses. Your sunglasses will keep you from seeing the actual color, and leave you with just lights and darks.

Layering

There are certain rules that should be followed when painting in oils. These rules keep you from ending up with a muddy mess of a painting.

First, you should always paint from warm to cool, meaning, lay down warm colors first, then cool. This also goes for value, always go from dark to light.

Similarly, you should always lay down your thin paint first (or long paint), getting thicker (short paint) as you go along, using your biggest brush first. Start with big, blocked in objects first, slowly working into more detail toward the end.

* Two typical layering methods for an oil painting as following:

Gesso: Gesso is used to prime a surface or canvass before painting. Basically, it makes paint stick better to the surface. It also keeps it from sinking into the surface. You don’t have to use gesso when painting, but it is worth giving a try.

Varnish: Varnish protects your painting from damage. It is only applied when the painting has thoroughly dried, around six months. Retouch varnish is temporary and can be used as soon as the picture is dry to the touch and can be removed with gum turpentine.

Other familiar ways of layering for oil painting:
1. Canvas
2. Underpainting
3. Thin, long, dark, warm paint
4. Thicker, short, light, cool paint

Now, did you have got an idea about oil painting? try it now!
